Journey of the Wooden Mushroom: From Nature’s Marvel to Fantasy World

During my 2025 World Cruise, I had the privilege of visiting the breathtaking Gardens by the Bay in Singapore—a 250-acre wonderland where over 200,000 rare plants thrive beneath expansive glass domes. Among the lush greenery and vibrant blooms, I discovered something truly extraordinary: a giant wooden mushroom sculpture, crafted from interwoven pieces of driftwood. This sculpture stood as a testament to the creativity of artists who use natural materials to celebrate the beauty and diversity of the plant kingdom.

Gardens by the Bay is not just a park; it's a living classroom. Here, visitors learn the importance of biodiversity, conservation, and the intricate relationships between plants and their environments. The wooden mushroom, with its towering cap and intricate gills, invites us to look closer at the hidden wonders of the natural world. Mushrooms, after all, play a vital role in ecosystems—breaking down organic matter, nourishing plants, and even forming underground networks that help communicate.

Inspired by the blend of art and science at Gardens by the Bay, I decided to take the wooden mushroom on a journey of imagination. Using AI, I transformed my photograph into a fantasy landscape, where the mushroom became a magical tree at the heart of an enchanted forest. In this new world, the mushroom's roots twist and spiral, connecting realms of mystery and wonder. The scene invites viewers to dream, to ask questions, and to see the possibilities that arise when art and technology meet. Through this creative process, I hope to spark curiosity about both real and imagined worlds. Art can be a bridge—connecting us to nature, to each other, and to the endless landscapes of our own creativity.

From Tahiti’s Shore to Dreamscape: Boats of Imagination

On a sun-drenched day in Papeete, Tahiti, I found myself mesmerized by these humble boats resting at the water’s edge. Their simple forms and makeshift roofs seemed to float between the turquoise sea and the endless sky, inviting daydreams as the warm breeze danced around me. In that moment, my imagination took flight—what if these boats could become something more?

Back in my studio, I let my mind wander and reimagined the scene. The boats transformed into fantastical creatures, their hulls sprouting elegant legs and tails, as if ready to wade into a world of dreams. The familiar shoreline became a stage for a parade of whimsical vessels, each one a bridge between reality and fantasy.

This pair of images is a celebration of how travel, nature, and a spark of imagination can turn an ordinary moment into a story worth sharing. Whether anchored in the real world or drifting into the surreal, these boats remind me that creativity knows no boundaries.

"Enchanted Canopy: Transforming Moorea’s Trees—From Reality to Fantasy, Renaissance, Impressionist, and Pixel Dreams"

A journey that begins with a single photograph of a Moorea palm, then blossoms into a series of imaginative visions. Each artwork reinterprets the original tree through the lens of fantasy, the elegance of the Renaissance, the emotion of Impressionism, and the playful abstraction of pixel art. This series reveals how art can take the familiar and, through creative transformation, give it new stories, moods, and meanings—inviting viewers to see nature not just as it is, but as it could be in countless worlds of imagination.

Gravity of Memory: Tea with Great Grandmother

This series began with a single photograph, capturing the whimsical installation that sparked my nostalgia. But memory is never static—it shifts, evolves, and takes on new colors with each retelling. To honor that, I reimagined the scene through three different artistic lenses:

  • Fantasy: The teapot and cup become a portal to a magical world, where a white fox pauses to drink from the cup, and the forest glows with hidden light.

  • Anime: The scene transforms into a playful, dreamlike moment, as if lifted from a storybook or a childhood daydream.

  • Watercolor: Soft washes and gentle lines evoke the tenderness of memory, blurring the edges between past and present.

Cloudborne Realms: The Original

This is where the journey began—a real sky, a fleeting moment, a rainbow slicing through the clouds. Before the transformations, there was simply wonder. Sometimes, the most magical stories start with a single glance upward. What do you imagine when you look at the sky?

Cloudborne Realms: Fantasy

In this vision, the clouds become a living forest—trees sprouting from mist, their branches reaching for the sky. A tiny figure floats upward, drawn by the pull of a rainbow sword slicing through the heavens. It’s a moment of pure possibility, where gravity is optional and wonder is the only rule. What do you see in the clouds today?

Cloudborne Realms: Surrealism

Here, a lightning hot rod races across the sky—reflecting the wild, unconscious mind as it expresses itself with both whimsy and logic. The dark, analogous palette is balanced by warm pastels and playful patterns, creating a world where the illogical feels right at home. Sometimes, the most unexpected combinations spark the brightest ideas.

Cloudborne Realms: Impressionist

Unstable brushstrokes and shifting light capture the passage of time in the sky. This piece is all about movement—how clouds drift, colors shift, and moments slip away. It’s a reminder that every sky is a fleeting masterpiece, never to be repeated. What memories do these colors stir for you?

Cloudborne Realms: Anime

Speed and action electrify the sky—clouds become mountains, and a Japanese tree tries to break through the mist. The energy is palpable, as if the whole scene is racing forward. Sometimes, the sky feels like a story waiting to be told at lightning speed. Which detail catches your eye first?

Through the Looking Glass: A Face of Seven Dimensions

Once, there was a face—born from swirling colors and chance, emerging from the canvas as little more than a shadow. At first, it was blank, a vessel of nothingness, holding only the silent echo of possibility.
But then, with a single, deliberate gesture, I gave it eyes.

Suddenly, the face could see. The world rushed in—light, color, wonder, and sorrow. With vision came curiosity, and with curiosity, the desire to experience everything.
So, the face began its journey.

Through the lens of fantasy, it became a dreamer, alive with magic and wild imagination. In the bold lines of anime, it found energy and playfulness. The neon glow of cyberpunk revealed a world of technology and rebellion. Papercraft brought a sense of tactile joy, while pixel art offered nostalgia and simplicity. The renaissance style wrapped the face in timeless beauty and grace.
Each transformation was a new way of seeing, a new way of being.

This is the story of a face that refused to remain empty—a face that, by opening its eyes, discovered that the world is not just one thing, but many.

Dreamscapes in Transformation: The Night the Monster Learned to Dance

There are nights when sleep is a gentle tide, carrying us softly to distant shores. And then there are nights when the mind becomes a wild, uncharted sea—where monsters lurk, colors swirl, and the boundaries between reality and imagination dissolve. This is the story of one such night, and the art that was born from it.

It began with a simple indulgence: a piece of chocolate before bed, a small rebellion against routine. But as the moon climbed higher, my dreams grew restless. Shadows twisted and shapes flickered behind my eyelids. In that liminal space between waking and sleep, a monster emerged—not a creature of fear, but a curious, shifting presence. It looked around, as if searching for its own identity, and with every glance, it transformed.

In the morning, I reached for my paints, determined to capture the wild energy of that dream. The first brushstrokes were bold and uncertain, echoing the monster’s confusion. But as the colors bled and blended, something magical happened: the monster began to dance. It spun through worlds of style and story, shedding one skin for another, never content to remain the same.

First, it appeared in its original form—a swirling, acrylic vision of chaos and possibility. But the dream was not finished with me. I watched as the monster slipped into the vibrant world of anime, its edges sharpening, its colors pulsing with new life. Then, with a flicker, it vanished into a fantasy realm, where glowing trees and ethereal lights turned fear into wonder.

The journey continued. The monster dissolved into abstraction, becoming “Just a Dream”—a tangle of color and movement, impossible to pin down. It reemerged in black and white, stripped of all but shadow and light, mysterious and haunting. In a flash, it leapt into a neon-lit cyberpunk city, a traveler in a world of endless possibility.

But the dream was not done. The monster pixelated, breaking into blocks of memory—nostalgic, playful, and strange. It donned the robes of the Renaissance, twice, each time revealing a new layer of history and mystery. Finally, it melted into watercolor, soft and flowing, as if the whole adventure had been a fleeting vision, dissolving with the dawn.

When I stepped back, I saw not just a series of paintings, but a circle of transformation—a visual diary of a single night’s journey through the wilds of imagination. Each piece was a different face of the same dream, a reminder that our fears and fantasies are never fixed. They are meant to be explored, reimagined, and, above all, shared.

This series is my invitation to you: step inside the circle, and let your own dreams dance. Which version of the monster speaks to you? What colors swirl in your wildest nights? Art, after all, is the place where even our nightmares can become beautiful.
